On Friday & Saturday we will stay open until 10 PM if we’re busy!!  9 PM will only be if there’s not much activity!!!  So, if you plan to arrive late, drop us a line at 207-463-5024 to check in and see what's happening!!!

We will host your private events at any time!!  Weddings, birthday parties, family gatherings of any kind!!  Call us to make a plan 207-463-5024!!

We can legally stay open until 1AM but have made the choice to close earlier in order to assure our INN guests have minimal noise and possible interruptions during quiet sleeping times and also to curb issues that tend to arise during the later hours of the day in a tavern setting.  We are a zero tolerance tavern and will not hesitate to remove anyone who is out of line or causing issues for other guests.  If you are a hot trigger type, please, do us both all a favor and stay home.  We only want the kindest of souls and those who wish to share in cheer and joy!  Thank you for helping keep us a safe and healthy environment and allowing for us to stay open for many years to come!  Together, this dream is possible!!

This area of the building was home of C.L. Pettengill & Son's Store for many years!  Men's clothing, boots and workwear were all sold here along with many other items that one would ever imagine needing!  The space was in the mid 1980's used as an appliance store, small engine repair and was later in the 80's closed and never opened again until 2020 when we held an indoor flea market type sales event in an effort to raise funds to make building repairs.  After minimal success with the storefront we decided to focus our efforts on creating a space that folks could socialize and gather in.  The community really needed to have some place where people could come together in a warm, safe location and revive the community spirit that this town so desperately needs!  Times have changed a lot and people have moved farther apart than ever before.  We need to come back together, communicate and gather in the spirit of humanity once again.  This building calls back to a time of simplicity and comradery among men.  Come be a part of  renewed historical passion and enjoy your favorite foods and beverages in this magical building!  

A 60" and three 20" flat screen tv's are featured in the lounge for your viewing pleasure!  Have a game or 3 going all at the same time!  Never lose track of what is going on!  Free pool, music and popcorn!  Something for everyone!  This is not a dive bar.  This is a bar held to a standard that would make the original builders and owners of the property proud!  Responsible beverage service and a good time to be had by all!!  A wide variety of fresh coffees and flavorings are available also, and hot cocoa and tea!

We also have a gift shop on the back wall, filled with nicknacks and trinkets that range from items found here in the building, to beer and whiskey collectables and much, much more!!  Don't want to have a drink or food but are curious about what our shelves may house??  Come by!!  We welcome merchandise shoppers just as any other customers!!!  We also purchase items of collectable nature!!  Have something in mind??  Stop by!!

Why the new name, you ask?

Well… pull up a chair. It's a long story – and most of it has to be notarized in triplicate.

For those of you who’ve been following the epic saga of the Island Falls Opera House, you know we’ve been on a rollercoaster of renovation, restoration, and regulation.  While our dreams for a fully functioning historic hub have been big, the permissions, permits, inspections, reviews, appeals, zoning discussions, and “we’ll get back to you”s have been even bigger...

So, in the grand tradition of turning lemons into artisan cocktails...

Named in honor of the bold, beautiful bureaucracy that has heroically delayed our ability to open fully, serve food freely, and host grand performances without needing a fire marshal, a historic district approval, and the ghost of Teddy Roosevelt to co-sign the paperwork.

Yes, the "Tavern" is open — but only in the ways we're actually allowed to be. The Opera House is still here — but not quite operatic just yet....and the Inn? We’re allowed to let you sleep there, but don’t ask about the coffee machine....haha

Is it a little absurd? Definitely!
Is it frustrating? You bet!
Is humor our coping mechanism? Absolutely!

So come visit. Enjoy a drink. Laugh with us about the fact that it’s easier to rebuild Rome than to install a second bathroom and raise a glass to all the good things coming soon-ish, pending approval...
